1. Who we are

Fashionably Fifty (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website fashionablyfifty.site (the “Site”). We publish fashion and style content for women over 50.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit the Site, how that information is used and shared, and the choices you have. It is written to meet Google AdSense publisher requirements and to give visitors the disclosures expected under major privacy laws, including the GDPR/UK GDPR, the ePrivacy rules for cookies, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and similar U.S. state privacy laws.

This policy is not legal advice. If your setup changes (new tools, email lists, checkout, comments, or extra ad networks), update this page so it still matches what the Site actually does.

2. Information we collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

Information you provide

  • Name and email address, if you contact us or join a mailing list
  • Message content you send through a contact form, email, or comments
  • Any other details you choose to include in that communication

Information collected automatically

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version, device type, operating system, and language settings
  • Referring URL, pages viewed, time spent, clicks, and approximate location (city/region level derived from IP)
  • Cookies, pixels, web beacons, and similar identifiers stored on or read from your device
  • Advertising identifiers and ad interaction data (impressions, clicks) collected by Google and other ad partners

We do not intentionally collect precise GPS location. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, payment card details, or government IDs on this Site. If we later add a shop or paid service, we will update this policy.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Operate, secure, and improve the Site
  • Understand which articles people read
  • Respond to messages you send us
  • Send email you requested (for example, a newsletter), and stop when you unsubscribe
  • Measure and deliver advertising, including personalized ads where allowed
  • Detect fraud, abuse, and technical problems
  • Comply with law and enforce our terms

4. Google AdSense and third-party advertising

This Site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Advertising helps keep the Site free to read.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website and other websites on the internet.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.

Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices or, in the EU, www.youronlinechoices.eu.

Learn how Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Third parties may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, pixels, or IP addresses to collect information as a result of ad serving on this website. Other ad technology partners approved by Google may also collect data in connection with ads shown on the Site.

Personalized ads use information such as previous site visits, inferred interests, coarse location, and demographic signals. Non-personalized ads are based mainly on the content of the page and coarse location, but cookies may still be used for frequency capping, fraud prevention, and aggregated reporting where allowed.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. We and our partners use cookies, local storage, pixels, and similar tools for:

  • Essential operation — load the Site, remember cookie choices, keep security features working
  • Analytics — understand traffic and popular pages
  • Advertising — show, measure, and (where permitted) personalize ads

You can control cookies in your browser settings (block, delete, or alert). Blocking some cookies may affect ads, comments, or other features. Browser controls do not always stop every partner from collecting data by other means.

Where required by law (including the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland), we will request consent before using non-essential cookies or processing personal data for ads personalization. A privacy policy is not a substitute for a consent banner or a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework when serving ads to those regions.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or similar universal opt-out signal, we and our advertising partners may treat that as a request to limit sale/sharing or personalized advertising where those laws apply.

6. Analytics

We may use Google Analytics or similar tools to see how visitors use the Site. These tools can collect IP address, device information, and on-site behavior through cookies or similar technologies. Google Analytics is governed by Google’s privacy policy. You can learn more and use Google’s opt-out browser add-on here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

7. Other third parties

Depending on how the Site is built, data may be processed by:

  • Website hosting and content-delivery providers
  • Google (AdSense, Analytics, Fonts, or other Google services if enabled)
  • Email or form providers, if we collect messages or newsletter signups
  • Comment or social plugins, if enabled
  • Affiliate networks, if we later add tracked product links

Those companies process data under their own policies. We do not sell your name or email in a traditional mailing-list sale. Advertising and analytics cookies can be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under some U.S. state laws. See Section 11.

8. Legal bases (EEA / UK / Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data only when a legal basis applies:

  • Consent — non-essential cookies, personalized advertising, and optional marketing email
  • Legitimate interests — running a secure, useful website, answering your messages, and understanding aggregate traffic in ways that do not override your rights
  • Contract / steps at your request — responding to a request you send us
  • Legal obligation — keeping records we are required to keep

You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already happened.

9. Your privacy rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If those laws apply to you, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete data in certain cases
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Receive a portable copy of data you provided
  • Withdraw consent
  • Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority

To use these rights, email fashionably50@fashionablyfifty.site. We may need to verify your request. We will respond within the time required by law.

10. International transfers

The Site may be hosted, and our vendors may process data, in the United States or other countries. Those countries may not provide the same legal protections as your home country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses used by vendors like Google, plus your consent where that is the relevant basis.

11. California and other U.S. state privacy rights

If you are a resident of California or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law (including, where applicable, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Minnesota, Maryland, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, Rhode Island, and others as they take effect), you may have rights to:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how it is used and shared
  • Access and receive a copy of that information
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions
  • Opt out of sale or sharing of personal information, and of targeted advertising
  • Limit use of sensitive personal information, if we ever collect it (we do not seek to collect sensitive data)
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

Categories we may collect

  • Identifiers (IP address, cookie IDs, email if you give it to us)
  • Internet / network activity (pages viewed, ad interactions)
  • Approximate geolocation (from IP)
  • Inferences drawn from browsing for advertising interest segments (by ad partners)

We collect this information from you, your device, and advertising/analytics partners. We use it for the purposes in Section 3. We disclose identifiers and internet activity to advertising and analytics partners so they can serve and measure ads.

We do not sell personal information for money. We may “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising through cookies and similar tools. To opt out of that sharing/targeted advertising:

Authorized agents may submit requests as allowed by law. We will verify requests before fulfilling them. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision email.

12. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the relevant age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not use Google’s products to select or target personalized ads based on activity we know belongs to a child under 13. If you believe a child provided information to us, email fashionably50@fashionablyfifty.site and we will delete it.

13. How long we keep information

Contact emails and form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable records period. Analytics and ad logs are kept according to each vendor’s retention settings (often 14 months or less for Google Analytics, if we use the standard setting). Cookies expire according to their own lifetimes. We delete or anonymize information when we no longer need it, unless law requires a longer hold.

14. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information (HTTPS, restricted access to inboxes and site admin, updates to the Site platform). No website is completely secure. Do not send passwords, payment card numbers, or highly sensitive information to us by email.

15. External links

Articles may link to retailers, brand sites, or other third-party pages. Their privacy practices are their own. This policy applies only to fashionablyfifty.site.

16. Do Not Track

There is no single industry standard for Do Not Track browser signals. We describe cookie and ad controls in this policy. Where legally recognized opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control apply, we describe those in Sections 5 and 11.

17. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use of the Site after an update means you should review the new version. If changes are material, we will post a notice on the Site when practical.
